Last year, 2-1-1 handled over 29,000 requests for information about energy assistance. The Connecticut Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) and the Contingency Heating Assistance Program (CHAP) are currently accepting applications for the 2007-2008 winter energy season. These programs are administered by the Department of Social Services and benefit thousands of homeowners and renters throughout the state. Click here for information and eligibility requirements.


Maternal Child Health Summit

In September, the United Way of Connecticut (UWC) co-sponsored the Maternal Child Health Summit which focused on the impact of race and ethnic health disparities on births in the state. 2-1-1 is the federally mandated Maternal Child Health (MCH) telephone access point for Connecticut. MCH along with the Child Development Infoline and the HUSKY Infoline, also supported by UWC, are resources that provide vital health care information for families.


 


2-1-1 Child Care
2-1-1 Child Care received over 26,000 calls statewide. 2-1-1 Child Care can help you find the options for child care available in your town and the average cost of care. Information is available on licensed child care centers, family child care homes, nanny agencies, nursery schools, and play groups. Click here to find child care in your area.

IBM Global Work Life Fund

United Way of Connecticut and 2-1-1 Child Care are dedicated to improving the quality of child care through various training programs around the state. One example is the child care provider training 2-1-1 Child Care manages through IBM-Southbury's Global Work/Life Fund. This project enables child care providers to access training and receive resource materials on a variety of topics such as science in the classroom, effective learning environments, and communicating with families. The training is fully funded by IBM. 2-1-1 Child Care has many resources to assist parents and caregivers understand quality childcare.
