2-1-1 Connects Callers to the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP)

United Way 2-1-1 is proud to play a key role in HPRP, the new homelessness prevention program. The program provides federal stimulus funds to assist families and individuals who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness. 2-1-1 has received a portion of that funding to establish a Homeless/Housing unit where trained specialists screen callers for eligibility, refer those who are not eligible to other services and connect eligible callers directly to HPRP. This new effort creates an easy way for individuals at risk of or experiencing homelessness to quickly and accurately be assessed for connection to HPRP.

Connecticut's Emergency Mobile Psychiatric Services (EMPS)

United Way 2-1-1 is now the statewide access number for the state's EMPS. EMPS provides emergency services for children and youth under 18 who are experiencing a behavioral crisis. When an EMPS call comes into 2-1-1, a trained call specialist completes a brief assessment and connects the caller to a licensed EMPS clinician. EMPS clinicians are immediately available in person or by phone to help resolve a behavioral or emotional crisis wherever help is needed. Dial 2-1-1 to access EMPS.
