2-1-1 Maintains Up-to-Date Unemployment Resources

The latest Connecticut unemployment data shows that the unemployment rate remains over 9%, 37% of those unemployed have been out of work for more than 6 months (4th highest in the U.S.) and close to 21,000 unemployed residents have now exhausted all 99 weeks of state and federal unemployment benefits. United Way of CT is here to help with many resources including the 2-1-1 Navigator online benefit screener, the 2-1-1 online guide Where to Turn in Connecticut When You Become Unemployed and the
2-1-1 database available by phone or online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

New Online Enrollment for the Ages and Stages Child Monitoring Program

Would you like to learn more about your child's development? The Ages and Stages Child Monitoring Program (ASCMP) can help a parent learn about their child's development and identify potential delays as early as possible. ASCMP questionnaires (ASQ-3) provide a fun, interactive way to understand the many changes a child goes through. There is no cost for ASQ-3 and you can now enroll in ASCMP online. Click here for more information.

2-1-1 Lists Holiday Donation Sites

Many community agencies are reporting an increase in demand for emergency and holiday food assistance. United Way 2-1-1 has a complete listing of agencies and towns that accept donations for food, toys, clothing, household items and more. The need is especially great around the holidays. To find donation sites, dial 2-1-1 or click here.

New this Flu Season

We are now in the midst of flu season. This year, there is one vaccine that provides protection against seasonal flu and H1N1. There is also a new high-concentration vaccine available for those ages 65 or older. Children ages 6-59 months who attend day care are now required to get at least one dose of the flu vaccine. For more information, visit United Way 2-1-1's e-Library.

The mission of the United Way of Connecticut is to help meet the needs of Connecticut residents by providing information, education and connection to services.
