Need assistance identifying and evaluating the right summer youth program for your child -- 2-1-1 can help! Last year the United Way of Connecticut's 2-1-1 Childcare provided nearly 7,500 referrals for summer youth programs, including camps, statewide.

Just in: 2-1-1 Childcare released its Annual Capacity, Availability and Enrollment Survey providing a "snapshot" of the number of children served, the availability and cost of child care in Connecticut.


2-1-1 Kinship Navigator Launches

Are you caring for the child of another family member? There are more than 40,000 children in Connecticut living in grandparent headed households. Our updated Kinship Navigator, specialized staff trainings, and ability to consult with other 2-1-1 specialized units such as 2-1-1 Childcare, HUSKY, and Child Development Infoline offer a relative caregiver a comprehensive needs assessment, information and referrals.


 


Mental Health Information
May is Mental Health Month. 2-1-1 received 40,992 calls from providers and residents in Connecticut in 2006 for information and referral services for Counseling, Warmlines, Support Groups, and other mental health assistance. Interested in these service categories, demographics, and more -- it's here. 2-1-1 Call Specialists are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 2-1-1 is nationally accredited and is part of the National Suicide Prevention Hotline.

Renters Rebate for Elderly/Disabled
State law provides a rebate for Connecticut renters who are elderly or totally disabled, and whose 2006 incomes do not exceed $28,000/single, $35,300/couple. Renters rebates can be up to $900 for married couples and $700 for single persons. Apply between May 15 and September 15 at your town's Assessor's Office or the town's Social Services Department.
