2-1-1 Barometer - Assisting the Unemployed

2-1-1 BarometerAs the nation continues a slow recovery from the recentrecession, economists predict modest economic growth in 2011. Tempering that growth in the nation and in Connecticut is the highunemployment rate. Connecticut's unemployment rate hovered around 9% for most of 2010 and is expected to remain steady through 2011. Throughout the recession, 2-1-1 has fielded thousands of calls from those who are unemployed, providing referrals to job training assistance programs, employment resources and more. This 2-1-1 Barometer reviews data on Connecticut's unemployed, calls to 2-1-1 and programs supported by the United Way and the state that assist the unemployed and promote workforce development.
