Connecticut's Framework for Positive Youth Development report cover

The State's Youth Futures Committee has published Connecticut's Framework for Positive Youth Development. This report makes recommendations on how to help increase the chances for all young people to grow up to be successful. The United Way's Community Results Center played an integral role in the development of the report, which includes guidance on how to use 2-1-1's resource database to inventory youth-related services in your community.

New Federal Poverty Guidelines

New Federal Poverty Guidelines have been issued by the Department of Health and Human Services and go into effect on April 1. The guidelines are used to determine income eligibility for many local, state, and federal programs. Programs using the guidelines include the Food Stamp Program, HUSKY, ConnPACE, Head Start and the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

Utility Assistance
Requests for information on utility assistance often top the list of calls received from many Connecticut towns. 2-1-1 fielded close to 30,000 requests for information on utility assistance in 2007. Homeowners and renters can seek help from the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) and the Contingency Heating Assistance Program (CHAP). Click here for information and eligibility requirements.

Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

2-1-1 Child Care has compiled town level information for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). The CACFP provides funding to help licensed day care homes provide nutritious meals to children. Day care homes may receive reimbursement for up to three meals per child per day if they are enrolled with an approved sponsor.
